The magnetostriction and magnetic properties of bcc Fe-Co-Sm alloys produced by dc triode sputtering have been investigated. Addition of 3 at% Sm suppressed the large positive magnetostriction of bec Fe-Co alloys, resulting in almost zero magnetostriction for bcc Fe<inf>0.7</inf>C<inf>0.3</inf> alloys.
